Better Off Dred:
An achievement in Drak'Tharon Keep to engage and defeat King Dred the giant tyrannosaur, and kill 6 trash raptors in his pen in the process. This is considered one of the harder achievements.
Tacey, Emmeline, Tikkotna, Andynos (a Puggo DK), and Jirai filled out the group.
From The Overachiever column at wow.com, "I would advise not attempting this achievement... ...be prepared for this player to take (the tank --Bb) -- and your healer to have to compensate for -- a respectable amount of damage"
From Wowhead comments, "Just did this yesterday. This achievement is really hard on your
healer. Make sure you have a extremely good, high-burst healer in in
your group."
These comments are because Dred hits with 3 consecutive special attacks at once (from wowwiki):
- Grievous Bite: A vicious attack that causes the target to bleed for 1050 to 1250 every 2 seconds until fully healed.
- Mangling Slash: Slashes at an enemy, increasing the damage it takes from Bleed effects by 75%.
- Piercing Slash: Slashes at an enemy, dealing 125% weapon damage and reducing its armor by 75% for 10 sec.
The sum result of this is an absolutely devastating amount of damage being absorbed by the tank. Tikk succumbed to these attacks twice, but a quick battle res by Emmeline and Dred being at 2% when she fell again meant success! Tacey did an absolutely fantastic job in the face of so much raw damage, not just to Tikk but to Jirai and Andynos (offtanking the adds) at the same time! Jirai did a great job on pulling the ads and everyone rocked the DPS (nods to Emm and Andynos!).
I was so pleased I thought it deserved a shout out on the site. Thanks all, let's keep those heroic groups rolling!
